Acoustic Enclosures

  • AEC Commercial Enclosures
  • AEI Industrial Enclosures

Noise in the work environment can reduce productivity, make communications difficult or impossible, cause hearing loss, and adversely effect the morale of employees. In an office setting, troublesome noise can be generated by HVAC and mechanical equipment. In plants and factories many machines, processes, and types of equipment can generate high level noise.

To deal with this, J.P. America  Inc. offers two acoustical enclosure designs:

AEC acoustical enclosures: for commercial applications where noise from HVAC systems, ventilating fans, etc. must be controlled to ensure the necessary office working environment in commercial buildings and industrial plants.

AEI acoustical enclosures: for use in industrial settings when the high noise levels of process machinery or equipment must be reduced or to isolate workers from high level noise from many sources.

Either design can be used as personnel enclosures when many surrounding sound sources exist, or as machinery enclosures to stop noise at the source. What ever the application, Type AEC and AEI enclosures are customized to include your specific features (doors, windows, connections, etc.) needed to meet your requirements and to do the job.

We offer two panel designs; Model LDP and HDP. This makes it easier to match the right amount of acoustical treatment to the demands of each situation. Either type of panel can be provided in full or partial AEC or AEI enclosures. They can also be used for the construction of acoustical plenums and barriers, when
required.

Our engineers and representatives have dealt with noise problems across a variety of industries and applications. Will this expertise built on a solid base of applied experience J. P. can give you the service you expect and the acoustical solution you need.

Design

Each acoustical enclosure is specifically engineered to meet the needs of the application at hand. All are designed for economy, but always with the features you specify. We look at all the factors: acoustical and thermal requirements, vibration isolation, access and visibility needs, ventilation criteria, differential pressures, air contamination, moisture considerations, etc.

Enclosures are supplied with either LDP or HDP panels, depending on the acoustical needs of the job. The size and shape of panels are customized for each application. They incorporate internal stiffeners to bear the loads encountered. Sealed holes for necessary duct, pipe, and electrical connections are incorporated during panel fabrication. Double pane windows are incorporated in panels, as required.

Acoustical absorption material used is non-flammable, moisture resistant, and vermin proof, packed under compression. The absorption material is sandwiched between solid sheet steel on the exterior and perforated plate on the inside. A full 'C' channel frame encloses the treatment on all sides.

Construction

All J. P. acoustical enclosures are free standing, self supporting units. Panels are easily removed for servicing of equipment. When specified, special sealed quick opening access panels or doors are included, complete with double pane safety glass windows, if required.

Type AEC Commercial Enclosures:
• 18 gauge galvanized steel exterior skin
• 22 gauge galvanized perforated plate interior
• 16 gauge galvanized internal stiffeners for differential pressures up to 10" w.g.

Type AEI Industrial Enclosures:
• 16 gauge steel exterior (primed or galvanized)
• 22 gauge galvanized perforated plate interior with additional treatment protection, when necessary
• 16 gauge galvanized internal stiffeners designed specifically for the application with additional structural members, when required.

Options and Accessories:
• quick opening access doors or panels and removable sections
• moisture/oil barriers to prevent contact between air and absorption material
• custom view ports and windows of specified size
• special materials and finishes; stainless steel, aluminum or other alloys with custom finishes
• vibration isolation: when vibration must also be eliminated, refer to our Bulletin No. T1-88
• weatherproof units for outdoor installation which are reinforced to withstand specified wind and snow loads
• enclosures complete with properly sized fans, dueling, and filters to meet ventilation needs
• enclosures provided in the flat for final assembly on site with complete assembly instructions
• severe service enclosures for applications with high velocities, extreme temperatures or corrosive gases.
